Introduction to Kahului
Kahului was originally developed under the poetically named "Dream City" to evoke the vision of a modern livable town with homes priced to be attainable for the average family back in in the 1950's. That vision certainly became a reality and now Kahului is the most populated area of Maui, it also serves as the economic heart of the island with the greatest concentration of businesses, services, shops, restaurants and sources entertainment. Simply put, Kahului is where Maui gathers.

Kahului is located in the Northern position of the Maui isthmus and is the central hub through which almost all other areas of the island are accessed.

Kahului has a population of about 21,173 people in an area of approximately 4.51 square miles. Kahului is home to the primary airport on the island (Kahului Airport OGG) and is the first area visitors experience when landing on Maui. Kahului is the only area on Maui where you'll find a Wal-Mart, Costco and Home Depot.
